Dares for Couples: 40 Ideas From Mild to Hot

A good dare is a small push, not a shove. It gets you doing something a little outside your usual evening and leaves both of you laughing, or blushing, or both.

Here are 40 dares in three heat levels. Start at Mild even if you think you're past it. The build-up is half the fun.

How to play

  • Agree on the list first. Each of you reads the list privately and crosses out anything that isn't a yes. Only dares neither of you crossed out stay in the game.
  • Take turns. Pick a number, flip a coin or roll a die to choose the dare.
  • One free pass each round. No explanation needed.
  • Move up a level only when you both want to.

Mild dares (warm-up)

  1. Tell your partner three things you noticed about them today.
  2. Slow dance to the next song on the radio, however bad it is.
  3. Give a two-minute shoulder massage.
  4. Whisper your favorite memory of the two of you.
  5. Hold eye contact for 60 seconds without laughing.
  6. Feed your partner one bite of something, blindfolded.
  7. Kiss your partner's hand like it's 1850.
  8. Describe your first impression of your partner, honestly.
  9. Text your partner a compliment while sitting next to them.
  10. Swap one item of clothing for the rest of the game.
  11. Do your best impression of your partner. They rate it.
  12. Give a 30-second foot rub.
  13. Tell your partner something you've never told them.
  14. Let your partner style your hair however they want.
  15. Kiss your partner somewhere you never have before, as long as it's above the neck.

Spicy dares

  1. Kiss your partner's neck for 20 seconds.
  2. Take off one item of clothing, slowly.
  3. Whisper what you'd like to happen later tonight.
  4. Give a back massage with your shirt off.
  5. Kiss your partner without using your hands.
  6. Blindfold your partner and kiss them in three places. They guess the order.
  7. Sit in your partner's lap for the next two dares.
  8. Trace a word on your partner's back. They have to guess it.
  9. Describe your partner's best feature in as much detail as you can.
  10. Undo one button, zip or tie on your partner's clothes, using only one hand.
  11. Tease your partner with fingertips only, for one minute.
  12. Let your partner choose your next dare.
  13. Let your partner choose where your next kiss lands.

Hot dares (when you're both ready)

  1. Remove one item of your partner's clothing, with their say-so.
  2. Blindfold yourself. Your partner leads for two minutes.
  3. Use an ice cube, only where your partner points.
  4. Give a full-body massage, with your partner calling the spots.
  5. Kiss a line from your partner's ear to their collarbone.
  6. Show your partner, without words, how you like to be kissed.
  7. Your partner gives you three instructions, and you follow all of them.
  8. Five minutes of anything, as long as it's on both your yes lists.
  9. Pick a spot. Your partner may only kiss you there until the next dare.
  10. Swap roles: whoever usually leads, follows, for ten minutes.
  11. Whisper your boldest yes from the list you made.
  12. Your call. Invent a dare your partner will say yes to.

Want the game to handle it for you?

Writing, sorting and crossing out a list works, but it's also exactly what TwoNite does. You each pick your limits in private on one phone, and the game only plays dares you both said yes to, 2,000+ of them across Mild, Spicy, Hot and Extreme, building up through the night. No account: no name, no email, no phone number, and your picks are never linked to you. The first scenario is free, and you can play it in your browser. It's on the App Store and Google Play.

FAQ

Q: What are good dares for couples?

A: Start with mild dares that make you laugh or talk (eye contact for a minute, a slow dance, a compliment). Move to spicier ones (a kiss without hands, a whispered wish) only when you both want to.

Q: How do you play a dare game as a couple?

A: Agree on the dares first, so each of you privately crosses out anything that isn't a yes. Then take turns, allow a free pass each round, and move up a heat level together.

Q: Is there an app for dares for couples?

A: Yes. TwoNite is a couples dare game on one phone: each of you chooses privately, and it only plays dares you both said yes to. For other options, see our Couples Game Index and best sex games for couples on one phone.
