Desire App Alternatives (2026): 7 Couples Games Compared

Desire (full name "Desire – Couples Game", by Desire Technologies) is one of the longest-running couples game apps: you and your partner send each other dares and challenges, earn points, and talk in a private couple chat. It's popular, with over a million installs on Google Play and a 4.3 rating on both stores.

People usually look for an alternative for one of these reasons:

  • The way it charges. Desire combines a Platinum subscription with coins, paid levels and an ad-removal purchase; a Google Play reviewer sums it up as "a lot of in-app items for purchase".
  • Ads. The Google Play version is marked "Contains ads".
  • Two phones. Desire is built around sending challenges to each other, so you each use your own phone. Some couples would rather sit together with one.
  • They want to choose privately. Desire's store listing doesn't describe a way for each partner to pick limits privately so that only the overlap is played.

Below are seven alternatives compared on the same criteria. Full disclosure: TwoNite is our app. It's listed where it fits, not at the top, and everything about other apps comes from their store pages (links at the bottom).

If you like Desire's dares but want one phone: Smush or TwoNite

  • Smush is a one-phone game with eight modes and four heat levels, and needs no login. Its games require a subscription.
  • TwoNite (ours) is also played together on one phone, with one difference in how the dares are chosen: before you start, each partner privately picks what they're into, then you choose a heat level together (Mild to Extreme), and the game only plays what you both said yes to. Nobody has to ask "would you ever…?" out loud, and nothing one of you skipped ever shows up. 2,000+ dares, five game modes, works for any couple (M/F, M/M, F/F), no account and no ads. The first game is free; after that it's a short pass or a subscription.

If you mostly want to find out what you both like: Spicer

Spicer is a questionnaire rather than a game: you each answer Yes, Maybe or No in private, and only mutual yeses or maybes show up as matches. It's well rated (4.6 on the App Store) but needs two phones linked together. It isn't on Google Play; on Android it's an APK from Spicer's website or the web version (checked 12 October 2026).

If you like Desire's dares and chat, on two phones: Honi

Honi is the closest in format to Desire: dares, quizzes, fantasies and a chat, with your account linked to your partner's. It's on the App Store; we found no Google Play listing. It charges with coins and a premium tier.

If you prefer a quiz: iPassion

iPassion turns it into a guessing game: you answer questions about each other and the winner picks a prize. Each of you needs the app and an account, and the free version shows ads.

If you want something "clean" for married couples: Intimately Us

Intimately Us markets itself as 100% clean and built for married couples, with bedroom games, challenges and conversation topics. It's rated 4.9 on the App Store and also offers a one-time purchase.

If you'd rather talk than play: Paired

Paired is built around daily questions and research-based quizzes, with your partner's answer unlocking once you've answered too. It's about connection rather than heat, and one subscription covers both partners.

Questions to ask before switching

  1. Do we want to play together tonight, or send things to each other through the week? Desire and Honi suit the second; Smush and TwoNite the first.
  2. Does anyone have to say "no" out loud? Only apps with private picks and mutual-only results avoid it.
  3. How does it charge? Subscription only, coins, packs, or a mix. Mixed models are where most complaints come from.
  4. Ads? Several apps show ads in the free version, which can kill the mood mid-game.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best alternative to the Desire app? It depends on what you liked about Desire. For dares on one phone, Smush or TwoNite (ours). For dares and chat on two phones, Honi. For finding out what you both like, Spicer.

Does Desire need two phones? Desire is built around sending dares and challenges to each other, so each partner uses their own phone.

Does the Desire app have ads? The Google Play version is marked "Contains ads". Desire also sells an ad-removal purchase.

Is there a couples game where we each choose privately? Yes. Spicer does it as a questionnaire (two phones); TwoNite does it as a dare game on one phone, where only the dares you both said yes to are played.

Is there a free alternative to Desire? Most couples apps are free to start and paid after that. TwoNite's first game is free with no account; Smush, Spicer, iPassion and Honi all have paid tiers.

Is Desire the same as "Desire: Couple games" on other sites? Several apps use the word "desire" in their name. This page is about "Desire – Couples Game" by Desire Technologies, on the App Store and Google Play.
