Card games for couples
One deck of cards is the cheapest date night there is. Below are ten card games for two — six classics with rules you learn at the table, four flirty versions where losing a hand costs a forfeit — and, first, an online dare deck: tap Draw and the phone deals the forfeit, by level, so nobody has to write thirty cards before the game starts.

Three card games from our TikTok series
Games with actual rules, built around a deck of dares rather than a deck of cards.
- narrativeThe Blank CardThe rule: One of you writes a dare, folded, and it only opens after midnight. No peeking. Not even once.Write it at the start of the evening and put it somewhere you can both see it. Everything you play until midnight is played with that card on the table.
- biddingThe Dealer's ChoiceThe rule: One of you deals three dares, the other picks one, face down. The two leftovers go back in.The dealer chooses which three to offer — that is the game. The picker never sees them before choosing. Swap dealer every round.
- currencyThe Wild CardThe rule: Each of you gets one wild card: it swaps any dare for a kiss. Use it wisely — there's just one.Hand out one real card each at the start. It can be played on any dare, once. The card you keep until the end is worth more than the one you play early.
Classic card games for two
- War — split the deck; flip one card each; the higher card takes both. A tie is a "war": three cards face down, one face up, winner takes the pile.
- Speed — five cards each, two in the middle; race to play cards one higher or lower than either center card. First to empty their hand wins.
- Gin rummy — ten cards each; draw and discard to build sets and runs; knock when your unmatched cards total ten or less.
- Crazy eights — match suit or rank; eights are wild and name the next suit; can't play, draw.
- Higher or lower — flip a card; your partner calls higher or lower for the next; a wrong call ends the streak. Longest streak wins.
- Memory — the deck face down in a grid; flip two; a pair is yours and you go again.
Flirty versions (adults only)
Agree on what's in and out before you start. A private yes/no list works: you each write what you're up for and only the overlaps go in the game — which is exactly what the TwoNite dare game does on one phone.
- Strip war — War, but whoever loses a "war" tie-breaker loses an item of clothing.
- Forfeit rummy — gin rummy; the loser of each hand draws a forfeit from the dare deck above.
- Higher or lower with dares — a wrong call costs a dare chosen by the winner; three right calls in a row and you pick the next dare for your partner.
- Make your own dare deck — thirty index cards: ten mild, ten spicy, ten hot, shuffled separately. Start mild and move up only when you both want to.
Full rules for all ten, with strategy notes, are in 10 card games for two.

What is the online dare deck?
A deck of dares from the TwoNite game, dealt one at a time by level. Use it as the forfeit for any card game on this page: lose the hand, tap Draw, do the card. Mild and Spicy are free without limit; Hot and Extreme give ten free draws per device, then a TwoNite Pass.
Which card games work best for couples?
Fast ones with a clear loser: War, Speed and Higher or Lower. Gin rummy is the slow-burn option for a long evening.
Do we need a special deck?
No. Any 52-card deck for the ten games, and this page for the dares. The three TikTok games need a few index cards or slips of paper.
Is the dare deck the same as the TwoNite app?
It uses the same dares, dealt at random. The full game adds the part that makes it work for couples: you each pick in private first, and only the dares you both said yes to come up.
